Mathematical Modelling

The analysis of physical processes by breaking the problem down to base physics and applying maths to solve the problem. All physical processes can to some degree be modelled mathematically given the appropriate toolset. Compromise is usually needed here as modelling to the nth degree of accuracy may result in something that is insoluble given the toolset or the computing capability.
Two area in which ADG Energy Service Ltd is focussing are Computational Fluid Dynamics and Multidomain component oriented modelling

Computational Fluid Dynamics

In 2013 ADG Energy Services Ltd signed a letter of agreement with the Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) specialist company TotalSim. The aim was to bring TotalSim into the Oil and Gas Industry. The core toolset used by TotalSim is OpenFOAM which is an open source library of tools, actively supported and updated by a very large worldwide community.
ADG Energy Services is keen to offer this CFD service to clients wishing to understand, typically, flow induced issues. The code can be applied to other areas of interest particularly particle/vapour dispersion, acoustics in pipework.

Multidomain Component Oriented Modelling

With the director's degree nearing the final phase, mathematical modelling has become something ADG Energy Services is keen to offer. Multidomain component modelling allows mathematical models to be developed of, lets say, an electrically driven pump based on the electric drive, coupling and pump components discretely modelled and then coupled for overall simulation. The toolset being applied in this instance is Modelica which is widely used in various forms, Dymola and Matlab libraries or a core open source offering called OpenModelica.
Note modelling is the development of a model to reflect the real physical component of interest, simulation is the application of physical starting conditions to the model to gain insight into the component response.
ADG Energy Services Ltd continues to develop this service and expects to be able to offer it to clients soon.
